Building a Community

The South Sudan Skate Federation (SSSF) was founded by Titos Dominic, who first learned to skateboard while living as a refugee in Uganda during the South Sudanese civil war. Inspired by the transformative power of skateboarding, he introduced the sport to his home country upon his return. Though officially established in 2023, SSSF's programming and grassroots introduction of skateboarding began in 2021.

Skateboarding provides a unique form of play for the youth of Juba, offering them an outlet for creativity, physical activity, and a safe space to build community amidst challenging circumstances. Beyond its recreational value, skateboarding catalyzes resilience, self-expression, and a sense of hope, giving children tools to cope with trauma. To expand its impact, SSSF seeks additional funding to purchase land and construct a dedicated skatepark in Juba, creating a permanent hub for empowerment and growth through skateboarding.
